Varanasi Ganga Aarti Timings Table (2025 Updated), Best Ghats To Visit, Tour Packages & More

What Is Ganga Aarti in Varanasi? Meaning and Significance

Ganga Aarti in Varanasi is one of the most sacred and mesmerizing spiritual experiences in India. Performed every day on the banks of Ganges River at Dashashwamedh Ghat, this divine ceremony is conducted to pay homage to Maa Ganga, the river goddess who is revered in Hinduism for the ability it has to purify sins and bestow moksha (the ultimate liberation of the soul). The ritual is conducted by priests dressed in traditional outfits who chant Vedic mantras, spin giant brass lamps (deepams), and offer incense, flowers and fire all in perfect synchronization with one another. The Ganga Aarti is rooted in ancient times identified in Hindu mythology as the sacred ritual that provides presence of mind, devotion, and gratitude while establishing cosmic balance. At Vrindavan Mathura Tourism, we help you experience this unforgettable spiritual experience as we assist you in having the utmost comfort and uniqueness.

Top 5 Ghats to Experience Ganga Aarti in Varanasi

1. Dashashwamedh Ghat

  1. As the main ghat for the spectacular evening Ganga Aarti rituals with crowds and synchronized chanting and movements it is the most popular and some say the best place to see Ganga Aarti. The best views of the Ganga Aarti are from boats or sitting in front of the ceremonial area.

2. Assi Ghat

  1. More notable for Subah-e-Banaras, the Aarti ceremony held in the early morning with music, chanting, and yoga set to the sunrise. This ceremony is set in beautiful natural surroundings.

3. Rajendra Prasad Ghat

  1. This ghat is right next to Dashashwamedh ghat and enables people to have the same evening Aarti ceremony as those who attend at Dashashwamedh, but offering much more room, a less crowded ghat, and a better chance to experience the ceremonial rituals more closely.

4. Scindia Ghat

  1. This ghat is known for its spiritual calm and the Shiv temple which is partially underwater. There is an Aarti here, but it is where you can enjoy a more intimate Aarti experience with fewer people.

5. Panchganga Ghat

  1. This Aarti takes place at an understated ghat where the experience and the Aarti are sanctified due to the belief that five rivers intertwine here making it sacred, and a good place for the devotee seeking solitude or tranquility during Aarti.
